Multi-division former world champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley (49-9-1, 41 KOs) will be back in the ring on Saturday against WBA interim welterweight beltholder David “Ava” Avanesyan (21-1-1, 11 KOs) at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
While many assume the 44-year-old future Hall of Famer will make good on his promise to “annihilate” his little known Russian opponent, Mosley is actually the underdog in the fight. Sportsbooks have Avanesyan favored by -165 to -200, while Mosley is about a +150 outsider. While not insurmountable odds, Mosley may be in tough on Saturday night. And remember, in addition to dealing with Avanesyan, Mosley also has the added distraction of promoting the fight card.
