The Alabama Athletic Commission has confirmed to AL.com that WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder's next fight will be in Birmingham.

The commission has received paperwork for the venue and date. Wilder will fight on Sept. 26 at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.

The fight will be televised on NBC's Premier Boxing Championship series. A press conference to officially announce the fight will be held on Thursday.

Wilder (34-0, 33 KO) is set to fight Frenchman Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KO). Duhaupas is coming off the biggest win of his career over Manuel Charr, who was a top 10 fighter and heavyweight title challenger, on April 10 in Russia.

Duhaupas, 34, is ranked No. 12 in the WBC rankings. This is a voluntary defense for Wilder and the second since he won the WBC title in January.

It will be Wilder's second straight fight in Birmingham. He defeated Eric Molina on June 13 at UAB's Bartow Arena by a ninth round knockout.
