GGG destroys Monroe Jr.

GGG destroys Monroe Jr.

Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO's) completely demolished Willie Monroe Jr. (19-2, 6 KO's) with a sixth round TKO.  Willie Monroe Jr. came out in the first round and used good footwork and was able to stay away from Golovkin and use the jab to keep him away.

Second round saw Golovkin floor Monroe twice.  Golovkin was able to effectively cut off the ring from Monroe and back him into the corner and on the ropes.  Monroe seemed to completely abandon his game plan of moving about the third round and decided to stay in close with GGG.  Monroe came on in round four and the two were really exchanging some big shots.  Two rounds later in the sixth Monroe was dropped.  Monroe was looking at the referee as he was counting and decided to spring up at the count of 9.  His gloves were actually still on the canvas as the count hit 10 - he technically could have been counted out, but the referee gave him another opportunity.  Monroe, however, did not take it and told the referee "I'm done."

After the fight, GGG called out Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez.  We'll see if either one of them answer.
