According to Yahoo, 2016 silver medalist, Shakur Stevenson, has signed a promotional contract with Top Rank on Thursday. Here is what the former U.S Olympian had to say:
"Top Rank creates superstars, so I’m going with one of the best,” Stevenson told Yahoo Sports. “Look at what they’ve done: Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto. That’s what I want to do.”
Stevenson also mentioned that Current Light heavyweight champion Andre Ward who was the last American to win a gold medal will work as co-manager.
The ironic part about all of this is that Andre Ward is signed with Roc Nation to a promotional deal. Everyone assumed that since Ward was co-managing Stevenson, he would sign with Roc Nation. This is not exactly a ringing endorsement for Roc Nation.
