Adrien Broner is now rumored to be closing in on a deal to fight Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-1, 9 KO's) for the vacant WBA regular junior welterweight championship on October 3. The fight will either take place in Cincinnati or Las Vegas.
The regular WBA belt was vacated by Jessie Vargas in June when he moved up to welterweight to face Tim Bradley.
Allakverdiev has not fought since last April when he lost to Jessie Vargas. Broner, of course, lost in June to Shawn Porter.
