Yes, that nickname might ruffle some feathers but we should all just be happy to know that Andre Ward (29-0, 15KO's) finally chose his next opponent to warm-up on and it is 39 year old Columbian Alexander Brand (25-1, 19 KO's).
If that name sounds familiar it is because Ward was supposed to face Brand in November of last year on the Canelo-Cotto undercard. The match did not go as planned as Ward was forced to pull out due to a swollen knee. If Ward gets past Brand in a 12 round fight on August 6th, next he will face a true challenger in Sergey 'The Krusher' Kovalev (29-0-1, 26KO's). This bout would take place this November 19th in Las Vegas on HBO PPV and would undoubtedly become this years most anticipated fight in boxing.
Kovalev is scheduled to defend his 3 light heavyweight belts against Isaac Chilemba (24-3-2, 10KO's) in Russia on July 11 with the support of hometown fans and should be a fairly easy fight for 'The Krusher'.
Let's hope each boxer pulls off wins so boxing fans will have a big fight to look forward to this November.
