After his performance against Josesito Lopez on March 13, Andre Berto has been named the WBA number one contender. This means he's in line to to be the mandatory for Keith Thurman or Floyd Mayweather. Seriously??
Berto was clearly losing the fight to Josesito Lopez before knocking him out in the 6th round of that fight. Berto is clearly in the twilight of his career, but now finds himself poised for a possible big money fight. In reality, Keith Thurman is going to be the best bet for Berto. A fight with Floyd Mayweather is not realistic. A fight with Maidana could be a good matchup as well.
While I don't give Berto a good shot against any of the aforementioned fighters, I think it's great that he might get a big payday before his career winds down.
