Miguel Cotto plans on returning to the ring in June. The WBC middleweight champion is expected to make a voluntary defense of his middleweight title. The strong contenders for that fight are Timothy Bradley and Brandon Rios, both of whom are welterweights that would be coming up to 160 pounds to challenge for the belt.
Much has been made of Gennady Golovkin fighting Miguel Cotto. Golovkin is the mandatory challenger for Cotto's title. "No organization owns my career. So I will do my part and what I want to do." There seems to be a growing number of people who want to see this fight, it just doesn't seem like Cotto and his camp want the fight just yet. It could be they are waiting until after the voluntary defense to set something up.
