One person who wasn't impressed with Gennady Golovkin's win over Martin Murray was Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Chavez Jr., took to twitter almost immediately and tweeted the following:
”Without his power he’s not that good of a boxer, I’ll bet you GGG a million dollar of the purse that I’ll knock you out if we fight. But first, I need to beat Andrzej Fonfara and [he] is bigger and stronger [than Golovin]. Come to my weight class @GGGBoxing.” - J.C. Chavez Jr.
Well, not to be outdone, Golovkin's manager, Tom Loeffler took to twitter and responded to the million dollar bet:
@GGGBoxing accepts that bet, sign the contract this time," - Tom Loeffler.
It'll be interesting to see how JC responds to this one. He has been calling out Golovkin for some time now, but the fight has never materialized. I think this is a bigger money fight for Chavez than Froch would be and would be the biggest payday of Golovkin's career thus far. It will also be interesting to see how he handles someone of the size of JC.
The big elephant in the room however is named Bob Arum. Chavez Jr. already has a fight scheduled for April 18 against Andrzej Fonfara (26-3-15 KOs). There are rumors that fight may not even come off. Arum and Chavez Jr. are in the center of a legal battle over his contract that has still not been settled. Chavez Jr. is now fighting under Al Haymon - and we know how Haymon and Arum get along. So, GGG may be the least of JC's worries right now.
