Although the specifics of the exact location and the television outlet have not been finalized, nor has the fight according to promoter Yvon Michel, light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and contender Thomas Williams both said they are fighting each other on July 16 in the province of Quebec, home base of Montreal’s Stevenson. Williams (20-1, 14 KOs) knocked out Edwin Rodriguez in the second round on April 30 in a fight that was not an official eliminator, but one of the central themes of the bout going into it was that the winner would likely get a summer world title shot against Stevenson (27-1, 22 KOs). Michel told ESPN.com that there are still several details regarding Stevenson’s July 16 fight being ironed out but that he hoped to hold a press conference next week to announce it. The broadcaster could be Fox, which has a Premier Boxing Champions card scheduled that night in prime, or Showtime.
