Anthony Dirrell gets back on track with win over Rubio

WBA “regular” bantamweight world champion Jamie McDonnell (27-2-1, 12 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over Tomoki “El Mexicanito” Kameda (31-2, 19 KOs) to retain his title on Sunday afternoon at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. McDonnell dropped Kameda in round twelve to punctuate a 116-111, 115-112, 117-110 verdict. The bout seemed much closer than the scores indicated.

Former WBC super middleweight champion Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell (28-1-1, 22 KOs) dominated former middleweight contender Marco Antonio “El Veneno” Rubio (59-8-1, 51 KOs) over ten rounds. Scores were 100-90 across the board.

In an upset, bantamweight Victor Ruiz (20-5, 14 KOs) won an eight round split decision over former two-division, three-time world champion Daiki Kameda (29-5, 18 KOs), Tomoki’s older brother.
