WBA “regular” super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (31-0-2, 23 KOs) scored an big second round TKO over former champion Kiko Martinez (32-6, 24 KOs). Quigg knocked down Martinez twice in round two. The bout was then stopped. This was an impressive win for Scott Quigg over a quality opponent.
WBA “regular” lightweight champion Darleys Perez (33-1, 20 KOs) retained his title with a twelve round draw against Anthony Crolla (29-5-2, 11 KOs) on Saturday in Manchester, England. It seemed to be going Crolla’s way when Perez was deducted points for low blows by referee Howard Foster in rounds eleven and twelve. However scores were 114-113 Perez, 116-111 Crolla and 113-113. This was such a controversial decision, the WBA is reviewing it. Eddie Hearn is also looking for an immediate rematch for this fight. Almost everyone is saying Crolla won the fight.
Martin Murray (31-2-1, 14 KOs) won his fight with a fifth round TKO when his fight with Mirzet Bajretarevic (14-4, 8 KOs) was stopped. Word is that Bajretarevic was in no real trouble when the fight was stopped.
