Friday Night Fights and Fox Sports Fight Results

Friday Night Fights and Fox Sports Fight Results

ESPN Friday Night Fights Results
I have to be honest, I was not looking forward to this card at all.  Anyone who heard the podcast this past week heard me really dreading this card.  It just looked awful.  I had not heard of most of these boxers, the obvious exception was Tony Harrison.

Tevin Farmer UD 8 over Angel Luna
This fight was extremely one sided.  In fact, Luna only landed 71 punches in the fight.  Farmer really took him to school in this one.  A fight that was really easy to score.  Luna was completely outmatched.

Danny Aquino SD 8 over Ryan Kielczewski
Both men had their moments and this was a really good fight.  Back and forth action from both fighters.  In the end it was Danny Aquino pulling the upset over "The Polish Prince."

Tony Harrison TKO 3 over Pablo Munguia
This fight was completely ridiculous.  The first thing I noticed about Munguia is how out of shape he looked.  The matchmaker for this fight should be shot.  Munguia had absolutely no business being in there against Harrison.  Harrison was able to land any shot he wanted, when he wanted.  The only surprise in this fight was that Harrison didn't get him out of there earlier.  The end result was a TKO in round 3.  Ridiculous mismatch - this fight should never have been made, let alone televised.

Fox Sports Fight Results
This card was put together by Roc Nation Sports.  Roc Nation is setting their cards apart by trying to put something for everyone in there.  In between fights, there are musical artists and the actual set and production is very good.  So far, I've been pretty impressed with what they are trying to do.  The caliber of fights is definitely a step up from ESPN Friday Night Fights, but that may only last until Al Haymon takes over ESPN.

Ray Robinson UD 10 over Sherzodbek Alimjanov
Pretty easy win here for Ray Robinson.  I would like to see how he handles a better boxer.  But overall, I thought he fought a good fight - would love to see him in there with some better competition.

Murat Gassiev TKO 9 over Felix Cora Jr.
Felix Cora looked like he got tired around the 5th round.  He seemed to slow to a crawl.  The most exciting round in the fight was the 7th when Gassier looked like he had Cora all but knocked out.  Gassiev looked like he tired and then it was Cora's turn to step on the gas.  Very back and forth round.  In the 9th round a flurry of punches brought the fight to an end.  I think Cora's fatigue definitely played a role in this one.  Part of that was the body shots that Gassiev had been putting in all night.
