Eddie Hearn gives update on GGG-Eubank and Vargas vs. Brook

Eddie Hearn gave an interview with IFL TV and gave us the latest updates on the GGG vs. Eubank Jr. and Vargas vs. Brook negotiations.

GGG-Eubank: “The hold up is it’s very, very complicated. You’ve got a contract with Matchroom and Chris Eubank Jr. You’ve got a contract with Sky Sports for that particular fight. You’ve got a contract with HBO. You’ve got a contract with Gennady Golovkin. There’s three or four contracts to draft and these contracts go backwards and forwards with multiple changes and negotiations on so many different points: international TV, sponsors on the ring mat, press conferences, drug testing, hotel rooms, flights, gloves, ringsides, officials. At no point during the last two weeks has anything come back that’s made me think this fight won’t happen…the truth is I believe the fight will get made, and I believe it will get made this week.”

Brook-Vargas: The provision of services central agreement has not been signed or agreed with Top Rank or Matchroom because it’s too much money. Quite simply. And last week through the Brexit, the dollar rate swings about 12-13% — you’re talking about a quarter-million dollar swing for us from that happening. And that has opened our legs and kicked us straight in the bollocks! So we negotiated with Top Rank over the weekend and Bob Arum. We are now in a position where we have a number and a package that we are happy to progress with and I might start hearing people say ‘oh well I’ll bet it’s a shit offer.’ Let me tell you it’s over $2 million…much more than Kell Brook will make in the fight.”

Hearn said that the proposed dates are September 10 and October 8.
