The people have spoken and the votes are counted. Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will fight for the WBO, WBA and WBC Welterweight belts. Another belt has also been added to that fold. It is brand new belt custom made by the WBC for the winner of this fight.
The belt is known as the WBC Emerald Belt and it is gorgeous. The belt cost (insert Dr. Evil voice here)$1 million dollars and will be given to the winner of the fight on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
There were two belts made and the fans got to vote on which belt would be given to the winner. The losing belt, which was also beautiful, was the WBC Onyx Belt. The final vote count was 53% for the emerald belt and 47% for the onyx belt.
From my understanding, the emerald belt does not have any particular significance, it's just a trophy for the winner. That's a pretty amazing trophy.
