Braehmer-Krasniqi Press Quotes
Saturday night, the WBA Light Heavyweight Championship is on the line when the champion Juergen Braehmer (45-2, 33 KO's) defends his title against #1 contender Robin Krasniqi (43-3, 16 KO's). The winner of this bout will possibly face current Light Heavyweight King Sergey Kovalev. The bout takes place in Rostock, Germany on Saturday night.
Here are some quotes from the final press conference that took place on Wednesday.
Juergen Braehmer - "Krasniqi is a young ambitious fighter who wants to take my title away from me. But that’s not going to happen. As always, I will defeat my opponent and retain my title.” [On the possibility of an early KO] “Sometimes a single punch is all it takes. Whether this comes in the first round or twelfth round, it’s impossible to predict at this level. But when the opportunity does come, I will take it!”
Robin Krasniqi - “This is the most important fight of my life! A win on Saturday would change everything and I can write sports history. I would be the first professional boxing world champion from Munich and Bavaria and also in the countries where I come from, Kosovo and Albania. [On his unsuccessful attempt at the WBO belt in 2013] “That opportunity may have come to soon for me. But now, I’m ready for the perfect match!”
Braehmer Promoter Kalle Sauerland - “On Saturday night we have the champion versus the number one ranked challenger. This is what boxing is all about – the best fighting the best! I’ve seen that Krasniqi’s team has the slogan ‘Mission World Champion’ on their cars. I regret to inform them that it is ‘Mission Impossible.’ Juergen is going to win!”
Krasniqi Trainer Dirk Dzemski - “With all due respect to Braehmer, Robin is feeling so good we can have very high hopes. This is a cool fight! ”
Krasniqi Promoter Ulf Steinforth - “For me it’s important to get my boxers in a position to challenge for world titles – everything else is up to them. I am convinced that Robin will rock this place and bring us a world title again in Magdeburg!”
