Al Haymon continues to pursue a boxing monopoly. Tha Boxing Voice has reported that a source from ESPN has stated that Friday Night Fights will be replaced by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) - yes, Haymon owns Premier Boxing Champions. It'll be kind of sad if Friday Night Fights does get replaced. It's been around for years. However, that being said, they have not put on the greatest shows. PBC, seems to want to put on more competitive fights with showcase fighters. So, honestly, it sounds like a good change.
NBC, Spike TV, and CBS have all been romanced by Haymon. He will have shows throughout the year on all of those channels. BET and Telemundo are also in talks with Haymon to have boxing programs on their stations. I think this is great for the sport. PPV has ruined the boxing sports model and boxing needs to be more mainstream if it is going to grow as a sport.
