The WBC is working with the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) to try and clean up the sport of boxing. According to ESPN, the WBC has announced that it has created a "clean boxing program emergency committee." The purpose of this committee is to determine how to handle the Alexander Povetkin situation.
Povetkin failed his drug test in April by testing positive for meldonium. The positive test cost him a shot at Deontay Wilder's heavyweight title. The fight was called off because of the positive test.
I don't exactly know what the purpose of this committee is. The fact is that Povetkin tested positive. What else do we need to know. Suspend him and move on to the next mandatory challenger. If they don't suspend Alexander Povetkin for this test, then there is no point of having a partnership with VADA.
