An international media conference call was held on Wednesday with Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez to announce their PPV super fight on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Miguel Cotto: “This fight is just another fight…For me, Canelo is a victory for my career. Being the best Puerto Rican fighter is not of my interest. I’m happy with my career.”
Freddie Roach: I don’t think Canelo is stronger than us and I don’t think that’s a factor in the fight. I think we’re stronger than him. I think we’re the better puncher and we’ll show that on fight night.
Canelo Alvarez: “This is a fight I’ve been craving and wanting so bad…I am very happy that we have managed this fight. I am very grateful to all the fans.”
Oscar de la Hoya: “Mark my words – the PPV cost will be a lot less than $100 and it’ll be worth every dollar…the fight is huge now. Obviously we recognized that in May Mayweather and Pacquiao was taking place and now that that fiasco is all over with we can focus on promoting the biggest fight in the history of the sport in November.”
Michael Yormark (Roc Nation): “We haven’t focused on the undercard, but Andre Ward is a consideration.”
