The WBA interim super lightweight champion, Jose Benavidez Jr. (23-0, 16 KO's) scored a 12th round TKO over Jorge Paez Jr. (38-6-2, 23 KO's) in Phoenix, Arizona. Benevidez caught Paez in round 3 with a perfect body shot, but never relaxed the pressure and let Paez out of the round. Benavidez spent a lot of time just backing into the ropes and letting Paez tee off on him. Paez wasn't winning many rounds, but was trying his best. Benavidez came out in the 12th and quickly dropped Paez with a left hook to the head. Paez got up and then walked a little and fell into the ropes. That was enough to stop the fight. The fight ended at :21 seconds into the 12th round.
Super lightweight Antonio Orozco (22-0, 15 KO's) won a unanimous 10 round decision over Emanuel Taylor (18-4, 12 KO's). Very good action fight. But, Orozco controlled the action early. The scores were unanimous 96-94, 96-94, 98-92.
