It's official now. As heard on Ringside Reporter Podcast a couple of weeks ago, Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs) will defend his WBC Middleweight Championship against Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
This is not the fight that fans were looking for from Cotto. To make matters even worse, this is a catchweight fight. The fight will be contested at 157 pounds, not the normal middleweight limit of 160.
Much has been made about Cotto's choice of opponents leading up to this bout. The fact that it's a catchweight fight, will just heighten the critisicm. Everyone is saying Cotto is not a middleweight and fighting at a catchweight just solidifies this notion even more.
