Mario Barios vs. Devis Boschiero
The very first thing you
noticed in this fight was the height difference. Barrios looks huge for a featherweight. This fight was for the #2 position in
the IBF and with a lot on the line, the fight was very uneventful. Boos were scattered throughout the
fight. Boschiero was just
completely unwilling to engage. He
was more than happy to play defense all night and lose every round. I thought that Barious did very well,
but it’s hard to judge how good he is on this performance. He had a guy in front of him that
didn’t want to fight. Barrios
dropped Boschiero in the 12th and that was pretty much the highlight
of the fight. Scores were 120-107
on all 3 cards. Boschiero needs to
find a different line of work.
Eddie Ramirez vs. Jessie Roman
Roman took the fight on 10
days notice and had never been in a 10 round fight before. This is a pretty tall order for a young
fighter. And it proved to be too
tall as Ramirez took a unanimous decision from him. 99-91 2x and 98-92 all for Ramirez.
During the fight I thought
that Roman had his moments – he would land good punches from time to time, but
overall he just got outboxed virtually every round. Ramirez is a good boxer, but I think he tends to get hit a
little too much. I would like to
see him work on his defense a little more, but overall I thought he looked
pretty good.
