He's been out of the ring since last July after injuring his hand during a decision victory over Marcos Reyes.
Chavez is finally back with former trainer Freddie Roach. They are working together at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.
Roach had trained Chavez Jr. for some of his best career victories. They split in 2012, following Chavez's near final round knockout of Sergio Martinez.
Chavez then had a falling out with promoter Top Rank and signed with Al Haymon. He first retained trainer Joe Goossen for a single fight, and since then he's been using Robert Garcia.
He wants to return to the ring in July or August, likely against Gabe Rosado. After that, he wants to fight either WBC/IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin or WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez.
"I've seen happy [with camp] because Roach tells me that I have improved, but he also tells me that I have to be at 100% in physical condition to compete as I should, something more or less like when I started to train with him in 2010," said Chávez Jr.to ESPN Deportes.
"Freddie tells me that I can confront Golovkin, Rosado, Ramirez, whomever I want to - and that I can beat them all provided I am focused and well trained. We hope to return at the end of July or in August with Rosado, and then let's go against Golovkin or Ramirez."
Chavez has a record of 49-2-1 and 32 knockouts.
