Undefeated middleweight Antoine “Action” Douglas (19-0-1, 13 KOs) of Burke, Virginia scored a devastating fourth round TKO over Australia’s Les “Lock N Load” Sherrington (35-8, 30 KOs) in the scheduled ten round middleweight ShoBox main event from the D Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas. The WBA #9 rated Douglas came out strong as he dropped the #12 rated Sherrington in the opening round. A body attack by Douglass in round two dropped Sherrington for a second time. It didn’t stop there as Douglas sent Sherrington to the canvas twice more in round three. In round four, Douglas sealed the deal knocking Sherrington down for the fifth time. The end came at 1:02.
2012 Ukrainian Olympic Bronze Medalist Taras “Real Deal” Shelestyuk (12-0, 8 KOs), of Los Angeles by way of Ukraine and Aslanbek Kozaev (26-1-1, 7 KOs), of Vladikavkaz, Russia scrapped it out in the scheduled ten round ShoBox co-main event. The southpaw Shelestyuk used his height and was more active jabbing away on the tough and aggressive Kozaev through most of the fight. As Shelestyuk wins a unanimous decision.
Welterweights Keenan Smith (10-0, 3 KOs) of Philadelphia and San Antonio’s Benjamin Whitaker (10-3, 2 KOs) squared off and went the distance in going eight rounds. Whitaker boxed and landed the effective punches on the taller Smith as he scored a knockdown in round seven. However the judges scored it 79-73, 78-74, and 78-74 for Smith drawing a roar of boos.
Lightweights O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster (7-1, 5 KOs) of Orange, Texas and “Tsunami” Sam Teah (8-1, 5 KOs)of Philadelphia squared off in a scheduled eight rounder. The two boxed smart throughout the lackluster fight. In the end the judges scored the bout 79-73, 77-75, and 77-75 in favor of Sam Teah.
Welterweight Hector Frometa (1-0) of Cuba made his professional debut winning a unanimous decision over Oscar Mora (4-0, 4 KOs) of Mexicali. Frometa survived an early knockdown in round two caused by a right by Mora. Frometa boxed away outworking a tough Mora. All three judges scored the bout 39-37.
Welterweight Jeremy Nichols of Las Vegas scored a third round stoppage over Isaac Freeman of Los Angeles. Freeman was down in round three. As he got up Nichols continued to attack but referee Kenny Bayless stepped in to stop the fight at 2:57.
