Golden Boy ditches Fox Sports for Estrella TV

Golden Boy ditches Fox Sports for Estrella TV

Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions today announced that it has signed a three-year deal with Estrella TV to broadcast two boxing cards live every month on its network across the country, including the popular new series LA Fight Club. Estrella TV will air its first fight under the deal with Golden Boy Promotions on Friday, September 4. Additional fight cards and broadcast dates will be announced soon. Estrella TV is the fourth most popular Spanish language network in the USA behind Univision, Telemundo and UniMas.

“Estrella TV is one of the top-rated networks across the U.S. among Hispanic audiences so it was an easy decision to partner with them in bringing live, exciting boxing matches to their viewers across America,” said Golden Boy Promotions Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya. “Latinos comprise the largest fan base for our sport so we see this partnership with Estrella TV as a great opportunity to showcase our stable of fighters before an audience that is hungry to watch action-packed match-ups.”

The series had been airing on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes (and there is still a FOX Deportes telecast scheduled for August 6). Although not announced yet, it is rumored that Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series will replace Golden Boy as the boxing content provider to those networks. PBC also airs fights on Showtime, NBC, NBCSN, CBS, ESPN, ESPN Deportes, Spike and Bounce TV. Golden Boy will be working with HBO and Estrella TV.
