Showtime Knocks Out Amir Kahn

“I’m told Khan-Algieri will NOT be on @SHOsports. The network passed, I was told. #boxing,” Rafael said on his twitter.

According to Dan Rafael, Showtime has decided to pass and not televise the Amir Kahn vs. Chris Algieri fight.  Speculation is that it could wind up on a PBC card.

“I’m told Khan-Algieri will NOT be on @SHOsports. The network passed, I was told. #boxing,” Rafael said on his twitter.

Chris Algieri is coming up seven pounds to 147 to fight Amir Kahn.  Algieri is already regarded as a light puncher and moving up in weight cannot really help his cause in that department.

There has been a ton of backlash since the fight between Kahn and Algieri has been announced.  Most people feel that Kahn should have taken on a tougher challenge, especially since they were out there.  Adrien Broner, Keith Thurman, Tim Bradley, and Kell Brook were all credible challenges for Kahn.  Instead he chose to take Chris Algieri, who was knocked down six times and punished the entire 12 rounds against Manny Pacquiao in his last fight.  How that performance yields a high level fight in return is beyond me.
