Andrzej Wawrzyk out of fight with Deontay Wilder after failed drug test

Dan Rafael, of ESPN, is reporting that ESPN has obtained a letter from VADA that states Andrzej Wawrzyk has tested positive.

Andrzej Wawrzyk has been removed from the fight and Wilder is currently searching for a new opponent.

Here is the letter that Dan Rafael posted on his twitter from VADA:


This letter is to advise you that the "A" sample urine specimen numbers: 4085231 collected from Mr. Andrzej Wawrzyk on January 15, 2017 and 4085230 collected from Mr. Andrzej Wawrzyk on January 16, 2017 in Warsaw, Poland through his participation in the Clean Boxing Program administered by Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) program have been analyzed for anabolic agents, diuretics, beta-2 agonists, stimulants and drugs of abuse.  The results of the analysis for each specimen is as follows: Adverse.  Urine Specimen contains stanozolol metabolites.  Attached to this letter is (1) the Doping Control Form for specimens 4085231 and 4085230; and 2) the laboratory reports for specimens 4085231 and 4085230.  (Please be aware that different panels and methods of analysis require different processing times, so certain analyses like erythropoietin -- are still pending.  However, no pending analysis on the A specimen will affect the adverse results reference above.)


Mr. Wawrzyk has the right to promptly request analysis of the "B" samples at his expense.  Please be aware that VADA does not adjudicate results nor determine whether sanctions are appropriate.  As with all results, adverse findings are reported to the WBC/CBP, and relevant commission(s) who may make such determinations.
