Delperdang vs. Lundy preview

John Delperdang will take a big step up in class and experience when he takes on "Hammerin" Hank Lundy on Friday, December 30 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The fight is for the vacant UBF Lightweight Championship.

Delperdang has 11 pro fights under his belt and by all accounts has the makings of champion.  From Lamon Brewster to Robert Alcazar, they all agree Delperdang has a lot of talent and has what it takes to become a champion.

You may be asking yourself, why does a fighter with eleven pro fights take on a much more experienced fighter like Hank Lundy.  According to Delperdang, the answer was simple - "the opportunity to fight a big name."  The thing that really impresses me about Delperdang is his confidence.  He doesn't believe he's the underdog in this fight.  He doesn't seem to be intimidated at the thought of fighting Hank Lundy at all.

Hank Lundy has had some bad luck in his last few fights.  Overall he is 1-3 in his last four fights.  However, that record is extremely deceiving.  He had two disputed decisions to Mauricio Herrera and Thomas Dulorme.  He is recovering from from ACL surgery that had him sidelined for eight months.

Hank Lundy dropped down to 135 because he feels it's more of a natural weight class for him.  Lundy has been very clear on what he wants to do at the lightweight division.  "I want the world title shot right away," states Lundy.  He is adamant about getting a title shot as soon as possible.

Lundy is now in a division with one of his good friends, Robert Easter Jr.  When asked if a fight between him and Robert Easter would materialize, he had this to say - "I don't think it'll happen, it'll be a blessing if it does.  He's a good friend, but friends make some of the best matchups in the world."  That would be a great matchup, but first he has to take care of a very game John "Bang Bang" Delperdang.
