WBA not sanctioning Brook vs. GGG

The highly anticipated bout between current undefeated WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (35-0 32KOs) and undefeated  IBF welterweight champion Kell "Special K" Brook (36-0 25KOs) will be a non title fight - as far as the WBA is concerned.

Golovkin who holds the WBA super middleweight title has not received permission from the championship committee of the WBA to sanction his upcoming fight with kell Brook as a title fight.

According to BoxingScene.com A recently article stated the follow from the WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza.

"The Championships Committee and the Presidency have not agreed to sanction this bout as a title fight because Brook has never fought as a middleweight," said WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza.

The mandatory Challenger for Golovkin's 160 lb title is Danny Jacobs. Jacobs who's holds the "regular" WBA Middleweight title, is schedule to face Sergio Morga in a highly anticipated rematch next weekend.

With WBA not sanctioning the fight as a title fight, if GGG wins he will keep his title, if Brook pulls off the major upset, the title will be vacated.
