Barrera stops Murat in five


In an IBF light heavyweight eliminator, undefeated Sullivan Barrera (17-0, 12 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Karo Murat (27-3-1, 17 KOs) on Saturday night at the Glendale Civic Auditorium in Glendale, California. Barrera dropped Murat at the end of round four, and got the TKO in round five with a barrage of punches. Time was :25. Murat complained to referee Wayne Hedgpeth about a quick stoppage. Barrera is now mandatory IBF challenger for Main Events stablemate Sergey Kovalev, who was at ringside watching.


Unbeaten welterweight Pedro “Roca” Campa (20-0, 16 KOs) scored a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over Aaron “La Joya” Herrera (29-4-1, 18 KOs). Scores were 100-90, 100-90, 98-92.

Unbeaten middleweight Arif “The Mayhem” Magomedov (17-0, 10 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over southpaw Jonatan “Oso” Tavira (12-4, 9 KOs). Magomedov dropped Tavira in rounds four and seven. Time was :55.

Undefeated Lithuanian Olympian Egis Kavaliauskas (11-0, 10 KOs) scored a second round knockout over Pablo Mungia (21-10-1, 12 KOs) in a scheduled in a scheduled eight round super welterweight bout. Time was 1:10.

 
 




Welterweight Francisco Santana (23-4-1, 11 KOs) scored a sixth round KO over Arman Ovsepyan (14-6-11 KOs). A barrage of punches forced referee Zach Young to stop the fight at 2:37.

Pro debuting super welterweight Aleksander Besputin scored a second round knockout over Fernando Paliza (5-2, 5 KOs). A barrage of punches forced referee Sharron Sands waved off the bout as Paliza went to the canvas. Time was 2:59. 

In the opening bout of the from the Glendale Civic Auditorium Konstantin Kupianskii of Russia made his pro debut in winning a unanimous decision over Reggie Young (0-2). All three judges scored the bout 40-36.
