In a direct rematch, hometown challenger Anthony Crolla (30-4-3, 12 KOs) scored a fifth round knockout to dethrone WBA lightweight champion Darleys Perez (32-2-1, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.
After battling to a draw with Perez in July, Crolla was aggressive from the beginning. A left hook to the body finished the champ, who was counted out by referee Terry O’Connor. Time was 2:30.
