Weekend in Review - PBC and TruTV fights

Weekend in Review - PBC and TruTV fights

PBC Boxing
Unbeaten Jermall Charlo (22-0, 17 KOs) demolished IBF jr middleweight champion Cornelius "K-9" Bundrage (34-6, 19 KOs) with a third round KO on Saturday.  The fight was all Charlo.  K-9 looked like he was on his last legs in this fight.  He couldn't land anything
meaningful and couldn't get out of the way of Charlo's punches.  Bundrage was knocked down four times - onece in round one and two and then twice in round three.  The fight eventually stopped in the third round.

Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (32-0-1, 23 KOs) won via fifth round KO against Michael “Pretty Boy” Zerafa (17-2, 9 KOs).  This was a complete mismatch and Zerafa had no business being the ring with Quillin.  Quilt landed a monster right hand on Zerafa that ended the fight.  Zerafa was carried out on a stretcher.  Quillin is now set to fight Daniel Jacobs on December 5.

2012 U.S. Olympian “Sir” Marcus Browne (16-0, 12 KOs) looked good knocking out former world champion Gabriel Campillo (25-8-1, 12 KOs) in a light heavyweight fight.  Campillo was down twice and finished in just 55 seconds.

TruTV
Mexican Olympian featherweight Oscar Valdez (18-0, 15 KOs) won via fifth round TKO over Chris Avalos (26-4, 19 KOs).  Valdez looked good throughout the fight.  He dropped Avalos in round 3 and had him in trouble in the fourth and fifth rounds.  The fight was ultimately stopped in round 5.

Jesse Hart (18-0, 15 KOs) scored a ninth round TKO over Cincinnati's own Aaron Pryor Jr. (19-9-1, 12 KOs).  With the victory, Jesse Hart claimed the NABO and USBA titles.  Hart dominated every round in route to the ninth round stoppage.  He looked good, but the way he was hitting Pryor would have led one to believe he should have got him out of there earlier.  Can't argue too much with the result though.  It was a completely one sided fight.

PBC on Spike
WBC light heavyweight world champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (27-1, 22 KOs) knocked out  Tommy “Kryptonite” Karpency (25-4-1, 14 KOs), in round three in front of his home crowd in Toronto.  Stevenson knocked Karpency down in round two and just about had him out.  Karpency got up at the count of 9 and then the round ended.  He was knocked down again in round three and it was brutal.  Stevenson caught him with an overhand left that caused Karpency to stiffen up on his way down.  He hit the deck and the fight was waived off.  Stevenson called out Sergei Kovalev after the fight.

The heir apparent 2012 U.S. Olympian Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (18-0, 15 KOs) ran through Chris “The Heat” van Heerden (23-2-1, 12 KOs).  Van Heerden was dropped twice in round seven and the fight was stopped in the eighth.  This was a very impressive win for Spence Jr. Van Heerden is no pushover and Spence made it look easy.

Prichard “Digget” Colon (16-0, 13 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over Vivian Harris (32-11-2, 19 KOs).

Jo Jo Dan (35-3, 18 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Rafal Jackiewicz by the scores of 79-73 from all three judges.

Dillon “Big Country” Carman knocked out Donovan "Razor" Ruddock in the third round.
