One of the best up and coming prospects in the 140 pound division scored a fifth round KO this weekend. Jose Ramirez (14-0, 11 KO's) beat "Red Hot" Rob Frankel (33-16-1, 6 KO's) on Saturday. Ramirez was non stop action from the opening bell, but what was most impressive to me was the body work that he put in during the fight. A classic Mexican left hook to the body ended things in round 5.
“I have a lot of Mexican blood in me and like go right to a body attack. I got a big hook onto Frankel in the first round then Freddie (Roach) in my corner told me to get more distance, then attack with body shots. That worked. This was a great win before our hometown fans," stated Ramirez
“Ramirez got me with a hard hook in the first round. He got it in deep and it hurt, bothering me for the rest of the fight. He’s a good young fighter," stated Frankel
