Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22 KO's), WBA Super Bantamweight Champion, is eyeing two challengers as of right now. One of them is Nonito Donaire (34-3, 22 KO's) and Kiko Martinez (32-5, 24 KO's).
Oddly enough, one of the people not on that list WBO/WBA Champion, Guillermo Rigondeaux. Rigondeaux is also a two time Olympic gold medal winner. He is planning on going to the UK to call out Scott Quigg publicly.
According to Quigg's promoter, Eddie Hearn, that sounds like it will be a waste of time. Hearn sees Rigondeaux as the toughest fight with the lowest reward. "It's time to move on ow and we really want the Donaire fight. We like the Martinez fight as well, but I think it's time for Scott Quigg to make a statement this summer," Hearn told boxing scene.
"In time I think you've got no choice but to fight him. He's a very good fighters, it's a very tough fight. Financially it's not anywhere near the level of Frampton. Rigondeaux is big in terms of boxing fans but nothing outside of that." stated Hearn.
I don't think Eddie Hearn wanted to make the Carl Frampton fight and he definitely doesn't want any part of Guillermo Rigondeaux. And, I can't blame him. As a business man, his job is to get the most money for the least amount of resistance. But, in the eyes of the public, Scott Quigg's stock will most likely be dropping soon.
