Clearing up the Kahn-troversy

Clearing up the Kahn-troversy

Ringside Reporter spoke with Lindsey Tucker, Championships Chairman of the IBF,  regarding the IBF Welterweight Title Eliminator situation.  Amir Kahn and Tim Bradley were the two names that were supposed to fight in this title eliminator.  It was reported that Amir Kahn turned the fight down.  Amir Kahn was then blasted for not taking this fight.  However, after speaking with Lindsey Tucker, I don't blame Kahn at all for not taking the fight.

"We didn't contact Amir Kahn directly, we contacted his management team and they said no, he's not interested.  Why would he be interested, why would he fight Bradley or anybody else to become number one when he could fight Kell Brook tomorrow without even going through an eliminator.  Kell Brook, for the next nine months he's in an optional period he can fight anybody in the top 15."

Since Amir Kahn's people turned down the eliminator, Frankie Gavin is next on the list.  He has until Tuesday to let the IBF know.  Gavin is set to face Chris van Heerden in Birmingham on May 9.  "He has until tomorrow to tell us if he wants it, if he doesn't, we go to Shawn Porter, he's next."  said Tucker.

I don't know what will happen on Tuesday, but I really would love to see a Shawn Porter-Tim Bradley matchup.
